Campaigns & segments
Send one approved template to a chosen audience — and save that audience so you never rebuild it.
What a campaign is
A campaign is one template sent to one audience. It runs in the background through the send worker, which paces the messages out rather than firing them all at once, and reports delivery status back onto the campaign row.
You need an approved template and at least one opted-in contact in the audience before a campaign can go out.
Building the audience
In 📣 Campaigns → New campaign, you have three ways to choose who receives it:
| Method | When to use it |
|---|---|
| Saved segment | You've defined this audience before — pick it from the dropdown and you're done. |
| Custom audience builder | Combine tags (all must match) with custom-field conditions to describe the group. Optionally save it as a segment. |
| Pasted / uploaded numbers | A one-off list not in your contacts yet. Only works with a template that has no variables. Requires ticking consent; numbers are added to Contacts as opted-in. |
Always click Preview Audience before queuing — it shows exactly how many opted-in contacts match. A surprising number (too high or zero) usually means a tag typo or a condition you didn't mean.
Sending a campaign, step by step
Name it and pick the template
Give the campaign a name you'll recognise later (Diwali Blast), and select an approved template from the dropdown.
Choose the audience
Pick a saved segment, or build one: type tags into the tags box, and click ➕ Add custom field condition for anything more specific.
Preview
🔍 Preview Audience → confirm the count looks right.
Queue it
📣 Queue Campaign. The row appears in All campaigns and the send worker starts pushing messages.
Watch the numbers
The row shows Contacts, then Sent / Delivered / Read and Failed filling in over time. Refresh to update.
Reading the results
| Column | Meaning | If it's low… |
|---|---|---|
| Sent | WhatsApp accepted the message. | Worker still running, or template/number issue. |
| Delivered | Reached the recipient's phone. | Invalid numbers, or the phone is offline / blocked you. |
| Read | The customer opened it (blue ticks). | Weak subject/offer, wrong send time, or list fatigue. |
| Failed | Rejected before delivery. | Not opted in, bad number, or no valid template. |
Segments
A segment is a saved audience definition — not a frozen list. It stores the tags and conditions; its membership recalculates every time, so a segment like “tag: vip AND renewal_date in next 30 days” always reflects today's contacts.
Build the audience once
In a campaign, set up the tags and custom-field conditions you want.
Save it
Click 💾 Save as Segment and name it. It now appears in the Segments card and the audience dropdown of every future campaign.
Reuse
Next campaign, just pick the segment. The Segments card shows each one's current opted-in count.
Segments also feed automation: a CRM trigger or chatbot can act on the same audience logic you saved here.
